Lap Band Surgery Revision
When discussing bariatric surgery, the word ‘failure’ takes on a different contextual meaning. It simply means that the patient hasn’t reached their required weight loss goals after the procedure. It is generally accepted that losing excess weight totalling 50% or more, is a successful lap band surgery.
Should you experience any weight regain, persistent comorbid health conditions or any complications after weight loss surgery, you may need to consider revisionary treatment. Dr Dolan wants to be a part of your weight loss surgery transformation and to correct any concerns that have resulted from your surgery.
What Is Involved In Revisionary Weight Loss Surgery?
As with any surgery, the details of your secondary weight loss surgery will be totally dependent on your own needs and expectations. Dr Dolan will make sure that you are totally informed about the surgery and answer any questions you may have. The preparation for your revision weight loss surgery will be up to yourself and Dr Dolan to decide but generally, you should avoid eating after midnight the day before your surgery and ensure that you have a friend or family member with you for support and comfort.
What Will My Recovery Be Like?
After your revision weight loss surgery, you will most likely need around two weeks of rest and some time off work. Also, you may need to go back onto a post-gastric surgery diet of liquids and pureed food for two weeks following the procedure.
Dr Dolan and the team are passionate ensuring you get the weight loss results that you desire and this can be a long and testing journey. We want to be with you from beginning to end and help you to beat obesity.
